Is time running out for internal combustion?

Is it RIP for ICE?

I reported on a recent technology seminar for consumer website Green Car Guide.

Entitled “RIP ICE?” the one-off conference assessed the future prospects of internal combustion engines as the primary movers for road transport.

While electric cars hold a lot of promise, batteries remain a long way behind liquid fuels when it comes to energy density. As a result some classes of vehicles, such as HGVs, seem destined to remain reliant on engines for a long time to come.

That does not, of course, mean that engines can’t be made better, more efficient and cleaner.
