Automotive Manufacturing Solutions magazine asked me to write an in-depth article about Toyota’s electric car plans.

Until late 2016 the Japanese company positioned battery electric vehicles as a niche for low-range, low-capability roles, with hybrid vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell cars seen as the future solution for mainstream use. That stance was overturned when the company established a new electric car division under the direct leadership of Toyota president and CEO Akio Toyoda.
