I am a senior creative professional with considerable experience of managing innovation both online and in print. My most recent in-house role was Director of Content for international publisher Incisive Media, where I led a team of more than 40 creative staff responsible for publications in the finance, legal, technology and insurance sectors. In this role I helped Incisive Media adapt and respond to the changes caused by the rise of digital communications and evolving audience expectations, identifying emerging customer needs and new business opportunities.
One significant example of my work is the creation of BusinessGreen, a dedicated online publication launched in 2007. I was BusinessGreen’s editor in chief from its inception until mid-2010, and supervised all aspects of the site’s launch, developing its editorial mission, branding, design and business case.
More recently I led the development of modern editorial strategies for Post Magazine and Insurance Age in the insurance market, and for Financial Director magazine in the business finance market. All three brands needed to reposition their print publications to better complement their growing online presence. I also managed the delivery of a new website for Accountancy Age and The Actuary, among others.
For the past six years I have also self-published a motoring blog called GreenMotor.co.uk. My blog has given me direct access to many interesting vehicles, including early examples of the Opel Ampera, prototypes of the Nissan Leaf and Volvo’s upcoming electric cars. It has also allowed me to meet fascinating automotive figures including Chris Bangle and Gordon Murray.
